It's a good question. It all comes down to where the insulation is to be installed. Sometimes in difficult areas to get to spray foam is not the best option. In metal buildings Spray foam is a great product. The installer needs some manueverability when spraying. Cellulose and fiberglass each work effectively. Sometimes it comes to preference and cost. Spray foam is a more expensive product to install somewhere in the range of 3-4 times as much as fiberglass or cellulose. Each product works a little different as to how it achieves thermal resisitance. And how it is installerd. Example I believe cellulose blown in empty sidewalls is a great way to insulate and a great product for this application. I like fiberglass or spray foam in the attic space. Spray foam is normally installed sprayed against the attic side of roof deck. where fiberglass or cellulose are blown in on top of the sheetrock over the living area.
